When you think of a friend, what are some of the things you think of? A person you can trust? A person you get along with really well? Someone who has the same sense of humor as you do?
When we think of “friends” we often think of people we aren’t related to, like a person you know from school or from the house next door. But friends can definitely also include your relatives like siblings, cousins, or even parents! – The neat thing about friends is that they come in lots of shapes and sizes, and there’s no limit on how many you can have! But what is really a friend?

NO LOOKS, AND FIGURES ARE COUNTED
NOR MONEY AND FAME NOT INCLUDED
SIMPLY THE SOUL AND THE SPIRIT
THAT MAKES HUMAN OF PERFECT FIT
GIVES NO FEAR AND PAIN BUT MARKSMANSHIP
AND GIVES SOFT WORDS SIMPLE BUT DEEP
IT'S ROLE AND EXISTENCE IS NOT FOR ALLIANCE
BUT IT'S PURPOSE IS FOR GUIDANCE
IT'S THERE IN THE TIMES WHEN YOU'RE DOWN
NOT THE TIMES WHEN YOU'RE UP WITH YOUR CROWN
THE GOOD TIMES AND BAD MEMORIES IN YOU
ARE THE MEMORIES THAT LAST AND OF PRICELESS VALUE
NO OTHER HUMAN LIKE THIS
FOR IT IS ONLY WHAT A FRIEND IS

Most of us have friends and they have become your friends all because you trust them and they trust you. They have been there with you through the thickest and thinnest portions of your life which is why people need friends. But, there is more to it than just that.
Research has found out that having a friend increases your lifespan meaning having a friends lets you live longer. In fact, there have been recent studies that living a longer life with friends has nothing to do if you are in close contact with your relatives so friends do matter.
Without friends, you are more likely to be depressed and that has been proven by scientific research. Teens who have friends are more likely to show fewer signs of depression later in life than those who have no friends in school at all. And there were also studies that these people are more likely to develop depression later in life.
Friends help you inspire to eat healthy and have a healthier lifestyle. When you want to lose weight and be healthy, all you need to do is to ask your friend to help you with all the stuff needed to achieve that. But, on the flipside to that though is your friends can also reinforce the bad habits you have developed. So, choose your friends wisely.
